The Republican congressman from Kentucky restored his call for America to leave the United Nations Saturday, days after nationals in the United Kingdom barely voted to leave the European Union. Massie, referencing the Brexit vote, proposed it may be America's turn in a post on his Facebook page Saturday evening.
"Time for #amexit?" he composed. "I'm a cosponsor of H.R. 1205 to get the US out of the UN. "
The bill, titled the American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2015, would haul the United States out of the intergovernmental association and end America's inclusion with United Nations issues, similar to its peacekeeping operations and the World Health Organization. Massie was a co-patron of the bill, which was presented with five different officials last March.
Massie, in a remark on his Facebook post, said the bill was in regards to protecting America's power. "As an individual from the UN, we tie our natives to choices made by undemocratic nations, when truth be told our constitution ought to be the preeminent law," he composed.
The bill was relegated to the House Foreign Affairs panel after its presentation, however is unrealistic to make it to the floor.
